Whole Foods “actively interested” in Fremont.
Fremont foodie checked into the rumors that Whole Foods is coming to Fremont.
According to company spokeswoman, Jennifer Marples:
[Whole Foods is] actively interested in Fremont and we hope to be able to serve that
community with a Whole Foods Market store. We have a team who continuously
scouts locations throughout the United States to find the best opportunities
for Whole Foods Market to put down roots and open a store.Whole Foods Market announces all new stores on its quarterly financial call.
At that time, the web site is updated with these new locations. Until that
disclosure, the information is proprietary.

The first bit is more positive than anything they’ve said in the past. The city is supposedly interested (they always say it’s the #1 requested store by residents). I just don’t know if we have any sites that fit WF’s requirements, or how much they’re willing to bend on those requirements.
Im hoping so! I dread driving to San Ramon. Ive been posting on their FB page to come to Fremont, CA – Hopefully they do!
I so hope they come to Fremont! That would be fantastic.
I drive to Cupertino Whole Food every time in need of something from the store. Attended Fremont City Council meeting or a meeting that one of the council members attended (not sure), that council member put all the blame on Whole Food for sure, Whole Food was very picky of location for their store, etc., etc. However, the open space north of Costco at the Pacific Commons, there will be a movie theater (which I am so happy to know) and, get ready for this, another TARGET store. What about replacing the Target with a Whole Food store there? It’s that location theory again? I just don’t understand, why the city has to use one business to drive out another, all the time? I guess two years after Target in its new location, the KOHL’s at the Pacific Commons will be out of business. Just like the new Marina Food drove out the Lion’s Market on Warm Springs. Go figure.
Yes, we have a Target in the Hub and one at the mall, and there’s a brand new one wedged just off of 237 for north Santa Clara, west Milpitas and extreme south Fremont residents, so honestly, how many Targets do we need? Yikes. I don’t see much overlap in Kohl’s and Target, though–Kohl’s carries plus-size clothing (Target only pretends to), actual coats, and a lot of other things that Target doesn’t. If they go under I think it’ll be for other reasons (I’ve only bought one thing there in the last couple of years).
Target wants out of NewPark Mall (the company is gradually doing away with the two-store mall concept) so expect that store to close shortly before the Pacific Commons store opens.
